Mac OS X version 10.0 (code named Cheetah) is the first major release of Mac OS X (renamed OS X in 2012 and macOS in 2016), Apple’s desktop and server operating system.Mac OS X 10.0 was released on March 24, 2001 for a price of US$129. This feature is the same as Setup Assistant, which only runs during the setup of a new Mac; therefore, once you have set up the computer, you will have to use Migration Assistant. When you set up a new Mac, the Setup Assistant offers to copy your files.

Mac computers with Metal-capable graphics processors (GPUs) can upgrade to macOS Catalina.

Before you upgrade, we recommend that you back up your Mac. Then, if your Mac is running OS X Mavericks 10.9 or later, you can upgrade directly to macOS Catalina.

Upgrading from macOS Mojave?

Go to Software Update in System Preferences to find the macOS Catalina upgrade. Click Upgrade Now and follow the onscreen instructions to begin your upgrade. If you don’t have broadband access, you can upgrade your Mac at any Apple Store.

Upgrading from an older version of macOS?

If you’re running High Sierra (10.13), Sierra (10.12), or El Capitan (10.11), upgrade to macOS Catalina from the App Store. If you’re running Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8), you will need to upgrade to El Capitan (10.11) first. If you don’t have broadband access, you can upgrade your Mac at any Apple Store.

Apple’s Migration Assistant tool that’s baked into macOS has long been an easy way to transfer your data from an old Mac or PC to a new Mac. Migration Assistant can be done a number of ways as we’ve listed below (you can read more in-depth about them here).

• A FireWire or Thunderbolt cable between the two computers
• From a Time Machine backup
• From a startup drive that can be mounted on your new Mac

As 9to5Mac points out, the already useful Migration Assistant tool is now set to receive a facelift in macOS Mojave that will make switching from a PC even easier.

Oct 04, 2019  The games are not syncing saves in the cloud so whatever game levels I reached on iOS aren't on Catalina. Steam could do this years ago but Apple. Find the game you’d like to play, open the Game Manager and click on the Mac Games tab (or the Purchase History tab if you have already purchased the game). Search for a game from the list of compatible titles. The last game, Dust, is broken on Catalina, so ignore that one. Other than that, I have only played Bioshock so far and I was amazed at how well it runs, even on my MBA. I played the game way back when it came out, so I can already recommend it. With the latest update to Mac OS, Catalina, apps that are 32-bit are no longer supported. This means that a vast majority of our older games will cease to work and this is nothing that will be fixed from our end. Apr 17, 2020  More importantly, if you’re looking to buy a new Mac, it will come with Catalina pre-installed. 32-bit games are gone for good Steam on Catalina known issues.
